'83 creaky front end

Hello all,

My 244 DL seems to have groans, creaks, etc coming from the front end, not really heard on the highway but usually driving in the city where there is alot of varied road terrain.

So I believe that the control arm bushing(s) is(are) the issue. My question is, as the type of Volvo driver who will redline any system, how critical is this bushing to replace. I drive 300 mi/week and only have two days in the week where the car could be in the shop. I'm a shade tree mechanic, so I will need to take the car in to a Volvo shop(Austin)-it out of my arena of repair.

If I don't get to it in a week, what could happen-leading to what other problems?

TIA

Todd
