kickdown cable adjustment - help 700 1997

The engine has 180k on it. The high reving late shifts when cold started recently. I checked the trans. fluid and it was low (off the dip stick). I added two quarts and it was too high over the high mark on the stick. Drained a quart and it is now correct. The transmission continues to shift late at high rpms. when cold or first starting. The transmission shifts properly after it warms up. It does not seem to be a kick down cable issue. Any other ideas?
