brake booster vacuum leak? 140-160

Hello all,
This morning my '72 142s was running fine, no problems. I went and got new tires, (which has to be an unrelated coincidence?) and from then on as soon as I left when I step on the brakes the engine rpms surge about 1,000 rpms. When I let off the brakes and they drop. I do hear a slight hissing sound from the brake pedal area.
There was no reason for the tires guys to go under the hood other than they don't see a lot of old Volvo's. The booster valve is new and it is the larger 164 style, (can style one crimp) booster, (not the pancake shaped one).

I checked the booster to intake manifold line. What else should I check, or did the booster "just go".
Thank you in advance
CU
