52mm Tach question 200

Does anyone else who has a 52mm tach typically see a high RPM at idle?

Mine reads ~975rpm at idle, though during emission testing last week, the spark pickup was reading ~760-775rpm. Is this endemic to the 52mm tach, or is mine just off a bit? I didn't look at it during the 2500rpm test to see what it was reading, so I can't comment on higher rpm accuracy.
