Hard to replace Outer Tie Rod End? 700 1990

I've got a 90 740Ti.

I have a bad outer tie rod end. The ball joint is dry and worn loose. Lubing it might delay the wear at best.

I ordered one today becaue I've had a shimmy develop recently. I know it's loose because I can move the wheel about .75 cm with my hands (while it's jacked up). I can also watch it move.

The FAQ mentions needing a new alignment job afterwards and issues with stuck nuts.

Anyone have any advice or experience?
