Looking at a 1994 940 wagon (non turbo), positives and negatives 900

I was wondering if anyone could give me the low down on the the 1994 940 wagon (I am new to volvos). I know that the old 240/red brick engines went forever but dont know about what happens when you go into the 940. Does this engine have an aluminum block? Can you expect the same reliability with the 940 as with the older 240s?

thx for your responses in advance.
