oil seal blowout..it's ugly 200 1989

I saw something resembling a plug bounce down the road. Didn't think too much of it until the smoke started pouring while on highway, and oil coated the motor on the passenger side.

The shop says oil pressure seal in the top end blew out. It'll cost $200 if they can "loosen and push back the motor" enough to replace the seal (or plug) and if nothing else is wrong.

If they can't replace the seal/plug like that, it'll cost $1,200 to "drop the motor" and do it. If nothing else is wrong.

So, big day tomorrow.

I'd very much appreciate brickboard wisdom. I more or less trust the shop not to rip me off, but they are not volvo specialists.

200K on this wagon.

Thanks a bunch.
