My dead 122... 120-130 1967

Like Ron said, you may have two separate problems.

I too was scared of the electrical systems on cars
but these are pretty simple cars. I didn't realize how simple
until I stripped one to the frame of everything.
(including the wiring harness)

You need to trace the wires from the battery to the fusebox.

My guess, and it is purely a guess as I am in now way
an expert, is that you have some wires grounding each other
out near your starter. The cable goes from the battery to the
starter so check for any loose or freyed(sp) wires that could be
touching or melted that could be touching. Trace the wires from the
starter to where they go. I have a feeling as you trace these
wires you will find your answer. (I could be wrong but these things
tend to reveal themselves if you are patient)

Have you looked at the wires that connect to your
ignition switch??? On the back.
I don't know if this would cause no interior
lights but maybe the wires that connect to the back of the
switch have come loose and are gounding out. Check the black wire that
runs from your starter to the back of your ingintion switch.
It may be a possiblity that this is grounding out!

Ron has put a lot of time into explaining many things about these cars
on his SWEM website. It is the best resource that I could suggest
for you to use concerning the wiring and electrical aspects of
these cars. Here is the link to the wiring diagram.

http://www.sw-em.com/pdfs/122S%20Wiring%20Diagram.pdf

Look at the diagram and trace the wires on it. It is very plain
and easy to understand! This has been an invalueable resourse to me!

Again, where are you located?
There may be someone close by willing to come help
you search down the problem.

Have faith and have patience, you will find it and you will
learn even more about how to fix the car in the future.

Lord knows what the previous owner may
have done to the car....ha ha ha!

Keep the updates comming!!!!

cheers,

karl
