Graphic EQ in 780 700 1988

I bought my 780 and it came with an after market head unit and the EQ appears to have been bypassed. I can get the aftermarket unit out but the EQ is giving me some fits so i have what i hope is a simple question.

The new head unit that i have has the rca style preouts and i was wondering if the EQ used these or was there a porpriatary connector? Also if it is volvo specific is there a way to convert it to the rca stly connectors? I'm trying to decide if i really need/want the EQ bad enogh to tear it out of the dash or just leave well enough alone.
