White Wire Woes 1990 DLSA 'Bobo' 147K 200 1990

Armed with the great information I find on this board, I put Bobo up on four jackstands Saturday to diagnose the OD failure (relay already replaced and clicking loud and clear, so its the solenoid - or the eletrical supply thereto). Discovered that the infamous white wire was not only frayed and broken, but was complete eaten up right up to the snap-in connnector that plugs into heavier wire that goes directly to the solenoid itself. In other words there's nothing to splice to. So, my thought is to just by a whole new white wire complete with connectors and attempt to route it through to the shift box. Or, can the connector be reused? Anyone had your wire break at this point? TIA>
