At the yard I saw an '84 wagon with a true 5-speed manual transmission. I'd like to convert my auto to manual but have 2 issues:

1) I don't really have a place to store a 'donor' car;
2) I have a 92 so using the older trans means doing something about either the speedo or the sending unit.

So, is the true 5-speed desirable as a replacement, and is that only for the pre-electronic cars?

Suggestions for replacing the auto trans with a manual trans in a 92? Assume I know that I *should* just leave it an auto ;-)
