cold starter seems to be a problem 200 1986

I had the same problem with a brand new rebuilt starter. Just the first start in the morning when it was cold. After it was running for awhile, the car would start fine. I replace the starter under warranty and haven't had a problem since. If the starter is making a grinding sound right before it kicks over, you might damage your flywheel. I think the labored sound is just the extremely cold weather. My brand new pickup was slow cranking this morning when it was 6 here.
