Can anyone recommendation a company to clean/service injectors.
My 87 740 turned 260000 this week so I've decided to give it a "present". It has gotten a lot more sluggish lately than its younger brothers - an 87 240 with only 240,000 and the youngest 89 240 with a mere 165,000.
The 740 had an internal radiator failure (Blackstone) earlier this winter causing the coolant and the transmission fluid to become one - a really muddy pinkish mess - It wasn't pretty and I'm not really sure how long it was that way - although the coolant had been flushed about six weeks before I found it and at that point I noticed a small amount of oil floating in the coolant. I assumed it was engine oil and suspected a head gasket failure so I drained the oil and was surprised to find no sign of any water in the oil at all. Never even crossed my mind that it could be tranny fluid so I filled it back up and hoped for the best - figured maybe one of my teenage sons had mistakenly started to put oil in the coolant reservoir and didn't want to tell me or something. Anyway - after replacing the radiator I pumped over six gallons of tranny fluid through by adding it through the filler and pumping it out of the line to the radiator before the fluid looked clear and red. Flushed the cooling system and refilled it too. I've only put about a hundred miles on it since and so far there doesn't seem to be any ill effect, in fact, if anything the tranny, which has come to be a pretty hard shifter especially between 1st and 2nd gear actually seems to be shifting a little smoother. Hopefully it didn't do any serious damage as I'm determined to get the car to 300,000.
