I'm wondering how long the heater hoses (from block to firewall) typically last on the 240s. How many people have ever had a heater hose failure? I've driven relatively high-mileage 240s for almost 20 years and never seen one fail. For that matter, I've never had ANY Volvo hose fail. Years ago, I never gave the heater hoses any thought. Have I just been lucky?

Just looked at the heater hoses on my '92 and wife's 88 last night. The ones on the '92 appear to be (at least externally) in great shape. The 88's appear older but don't look horrifically suspect. I have no way of knowing if they were ever replaced on either car. All I know is I have never done them.

As a preventive measure, I'm planning on replacing them on both of my cars in the near future.
