Any advice for exhaust removal/reinstall 200

That is my kind of exhaust repair. BTDT twice so far, all on 240 sedans, N/A.

All the following assumes that both cars have the last pipe going under the rear axle, not over.

Get the first donor car up on your oil change ramps, put both ramps on the right side, that's enough room for me, and I am no longer a thin guy.

Use a lot of P'Blaster the night before on the cat bolts and any others you want to get off. Cannot use too much.

Have the new gaskets (if needed) and clamps and muffler cement on hand.

Since my sedans were not turbo, the cat is a different deal. The downpipe ends in a flange where the cat bolts on, about under the front of the passenger's seat.

I use a bottle jack and a board or two to hold up the front muffler. You may not have that muffler, but you'll want to support the system about midway between the cat and the rear axle. The system will want to pivot on the rear muffler hangers and without that support the tail pipe will jam tight under the rear bumper. BTDT

Remove the cat bolts. Remove the midway hangers (on the front muffler). Keep the system up on the jack/support.

Next go to the rear muffler and remove the LEFT hanger. Have a block under the left end of the muffler and let the muffler down to rest on it.

The system will tend to rotate off the midway support, which will make removing the last rear hanger more difficult, so leep it up.

To remove the right side rear hanger, I lie under the rear and put my right foot on the tail pipe and push it away. At the same time I use a large flat tip screwdriver to pry the hanger off the upper rod. When it gets close to being off, roll out of the way, it will drop with a bang.

Drag the whole system out from under, a little at a time as course corrections will be needed.

Installation is pretty much the reverse. For the rear muffler hangers, put a little ATF on all four rods and in the holes in the hangers.

Leave the cat bolts for last. Use plenty of anti-sieze on them. Remember that anti-sieze can be wiped off hands and tools put stays forever on cloth.

Good Luck,

Bob
