Stumbling & Stalling after WOT 140-160 1970

It sort of sounds like a fuel supply issue to me. The car is using gas at WOT faster than the fuel system (tank, in-tank filter, lines, filters, pumps) can supply it. You get a little full throttle action, but then the carb bowl goes dry and you sputter and die.

Might be a partially clogged filter, a weak pump, or even the hard-to-diagnose plugged ventilation for the tank, which can result in a slight vacuum in the tank the pump can't overcome, and which quickly disappears when you grind to a halt.
