Lubricating front face of throw-out bearing - 1982 with M46 200

1982 240 wagon with M46: I'm getting a squeak when depressing and releasing the clutch pedal. The cable and pedal mechanism are lubricated, and it still squeaks. I suspect it is dry pressure-plate tines rubbing on a dry front face of the throw-out bearing when the clutch is push in and let out. Does this make sense? Don't the tines move a little toward the center of the bearing each time the clutch is depressed? If so, can the bearing be reached fairly easily by removing the clutch-cable-lever rubber boot and reaching in with something to dab some grease on the front face of the bearing? With the clutch peddle out, how much space is there typically between the face of the throw-out bearing and the pressure plate tines?
