700/900 strut removal (upper shaft nut) tool from IPD 700 1991

Hi all,

I bought the above mentioned tool from IPD a long while back.

Not sure if they sent me the right one, but it's absolutely useless for me.

I expected to receive something that would allow me to hold onto the nut and at the same time provide me with access to the top of the strut shaft (to hold it while tightening).

The tool looks perfect off hand. It's basically a socket welded onto a steel handle. The problem is, when I insert it onto the nut (I recall 15/16), the top of the strut rod DOES NOT stick out of the socket of the tool so I can old it with something else. Hence, there is not added value in using this over using a 15/16 deep socket and ratchet.

Did I get the wrong tool?

Let me know.
