How to SRS contact reel with overly generous steering wheel lock? 200 1990

I need to reset my contact reel for the SRS, as I didn't make sure the steering wheel was locked before I changed the steering rack.

Before I take everything apart, my steering wheel lock allows the wheel to turn more than 1/2 a turn before it locks. As the wheels are supposed to be straight for the SRS, and then afterward the wheel is supposed to be locked, which would skew the wheels quite a bit, how do I address this issue?
