oil filter dependablity 1800

I resently purchased my 64 1800, so I'm doing all the usual research on it. In several different books I've read that for engine life I should use an oil filter that has some kind of non-return built into it like the original equipment filter did. I just changed the oil and used the only model I could find locally recommended for that engine, which was a fram extra guard filter #PH7328. Does anyone know if this model filter is a non-return filter. Would you recommend using it or any suggestions on other filters.
