Have to replace the speedometer cable -- advice? 200 1984

It is real straightforward. Undo it at the transmission end, drop the carpeted panel that goes in above the driver's knees and undo the cable at the back of the speedo. Remove the grommet from the firewall and pull the cable out of the firewall, undo the one or two connectors that hold the speedo cable to the body, should be one on the firewall and one down by the head pipe. Remove the instrument cluster and slide the new cable in through the firewall and attach it to the back of the speedo head, slide the instrument cluster back in and secure it and the carpeted panel. Connect it at the trans and secure it in the couple of aforementioned places, fire it up and see if it works.
The two important things you want to remember:
1. Undo the cable BEFORE you pull the cluster so that the cluster is mounted tight and will give you a good platform to work from.
2. Attach the cable at the speedo first so that you can pull the cable as far through the firewall as is necessary to make it easy to plug into the back of the cluster and then stuff the slack back through the firewall, install the grommet in the hole and attach it to the trans.
