oil pan gasket replacement 900 1994

Wanted to confirm if this job on this car is the same horrendous one it is on the 240 series?

I've been to two (regional or national parts/repair shops) and they're both telling me, according to their "software", that the engine doesn't have to be lifted to do this job - and it's only a $200 job!!

At any rate, I've looked at this quite a bit and I'm sure it's the pan gasket, after I tightened up the bolts a little bit more, it started to leak a little more; and I've slipped my fingers up into the area of the main seal and it's dry up there. It's dripping off the pan where the pan mating surface is lowest, and in the back - so I'm thinking the oil is running down the inside of the bottom of the block and finding it's way out between the block and pan.

Thanks to all

geo, 1994 940 w/155k miles
