rear shocks S90-V90 1998

Group:
I suspect that my '98 S90 rear shocks are weak.
Sometines I get a thump on a bump that might mean the rubber bump stops have been contacted. This is a leaf spring car without Nivomats.
FCP Groton has Boge units for $65 each, and lists different units for the sedan and wagon. However my parts list for the car indicates that the same OEM shock was used on both. The Volvo part number is 271899-7 and the quoted price is $76.36 each.
I would like a sort of stiff shock because I do a lot of trailer towing with a tongue weight of 100 lbs and about 150 lbs of things in the trunk. I have a connection to a body shop and can get low prices on Volvo stuff.

The questions are:
Anyone else ever replaced the rear shocks?
What would happen if I used wagon shocks on a sedan?
Are the Boge units junk?
Can I get gas charged shocks somewhere else?
Should I stick with the OEM shocks?

TIA for all suggestions
