1987 740 turbo no spark :( 900 1987

Hi Guys, Chris from down under again.

I ended up buying that 740 turbo I mentioned previously. I want to get the alloy wheels and oil cooler from it at least for my 1995 940s B230FK

Anyhow the guy whom sold me the 740 told me the engine had a miss. It started fine and was idling happily seemingly on all four cylinders. As I drove away it would miss when I put the foot down on the gas. The tacho was jumping all over the place and the engine got rougher and finally stalled at some traffic lights and wouldn't restart.

I pulled the HT lead slightly from the coil and noticed it would spark once everytime I turnd the ignition key from Aux to On (not start.) There was no spark at all whilst cranking. I am hoping it is just the coil and am bringing a spare with me tomorrow.

Is it possible to use a hot wire direct from the battery to the coil on this model? I am hoping it is not the computer. If it is the computer can i borrow the one off my 940 to get the car home?

Many thanks for considering my dilemma.

Cheers,

Chris
