That sounds like an opinion with little or no experience to back it up.
While it's true that some replacement parts cost more than the Bosch equivalent, "repairs" to the Regina FI and Rex Ignition are extremely few and far between.
That's my opinion, based on 4 years with a '93 940, while scanning the forum here almost daily. Comparing Bosch vs Rex/Regina reliability, I'd say it's a wash. But if anything, Regina might have a slight edge.
As for the unique Regina replacement parts:
• Injectors cost more but seldom need replacing.
• Fuel pump (just 1, not 2) costs less, but seems to have a somewhat shorter life (160K±10k?)
• FPReg costs more, but the cheaper Bosch version can be used.
• IAC Valve costs more, but may swap with Bosch by swapping harness plugs (Regina uses 2 wires in a 3-wire plug). Caveat: I don't know about IAC to ECU compatibility between Bosch and Regina, but ECU terminals and wire colors are the same.
• O2 Sensor (Titania-based) Higher OE price but only $112 online and arguably longer-lived than the Bosch type.
