An extra wire? 200

Look like the connector is designed to keep out the air and moisture. So I think you're right about that. I did look around within the reach of the wire, but couldn't find anything that this wire can be connected to. May be it is an extra one.

The car starts with a single turn of the key and runs very well regardless of the ouside temp. It has about 300 miles between fill ups. The only issue I have so far is this: when the AC is on, the driver side vent has cold air, but the passenger side vent has warm air. The heater works normal for all vents.
