Turbo Air Inlet Hose, and Sensor question. 700

Forum;
I intend to also look in the FAQ section, but I wanted to get this post out first...maybe someone can shed some light...

I had my waterpump replaced (too cold in New England to to the job myself...am I getting soft?)after picking up car '90 740 (230FT) it felt doggy...one look at boostgauge under load answered that...it never went into the positive therefore, no boost. I figured the mechanic had inadvertently disturbed some of the turbo hoses in the waterpump area...upon checking, I found the hose connecting the Air Filter by way of the Air Mass Sensor , and one other sensor of some sort - sporting the number 1357352 and hooked to possibly crankcase?) to the turbo inlet was oil damaged and holed (likely by the mechanic)...although I don't quite understand how this could prevent boost as it is on the sucking, not boosted side, I ordered a replacment(1336711)...this has now come in...it is correctly shaped and the ends are correctly sized so would fit, BUT it has an additional molded-in 1"ID line (not use in my application), and the mystery sensor fitting is also not correct (hole is way too small to accept sensor).

Questions:
1. Are there different Turbo Air Inlet Hoses out there, or should I make this one work?
2. What is mystery sensor?
3. How can a holed hose downstream from the AMS cause no boost? (I realize this would be like false air on a carb, but that still doesn't explain no boost)

Thanks in advance for any info!
