another dash indicator question 200 1990

Following on Evan's warning -

Tell the wife to look at the lights that are ALL on when she is preparing to start. Stop turning the key before getting it to the "Start" position, and look at them.

One will be the light she called about. Not being there we can only guess. Get her to give you a good description, maybe by letter with a drawing and a word about color?

BRAKES The Bulb Failure Warning light will come on then the brakes are applied if one of the three brake lights bulb has failed.

The Brake Failure light will come on when there is an imbalance between the two brake fluid circuits (in a NON-ABS car). This can probably be ruled out since you have chacked for full brake fluid reservoir.

My newest 240 is a 1988, so some information may have chenged since.

There is no light to warn of low pads, or that brake bluid is low.

Does she have an Onwer's Manual? If so, the lights and their meanings will be in there. If not, one can be obtained by visiting www.volvotechinfo.com or by calling 1-800-25-VOLVO. If you call, you might be able to get the person there at Ken Cook Publishing (they handle the Volvo books) to send the book direct to her.

Good Luck,

Bob
