Headliner cleaning product 200 1984

Hello,

What would you guys use to cleane the hard headliner of a sedan efficiently without harming it or anything else inside the car?

This car is 23 years old and I got it last year. Cleaned it up well but didn't do the headliner. I want it to be sparkly white, get rid of the black marks everywhere, the orange junk left by whatever sticky stuff the POs used under the sunvisors, and clean the sun visors while I'm at it. I hate to have that dirty stuff right above mine or other people's heads when they're in the car.

I tried with soapy water and it just smeared the junk around. I tried with some household cleaner (with alcohol) that my wife bought it worked better but wasn't strong enough to really get the stuff off and I was getting tired of scrubbing.

I was out of simple green, but wonder if I could have used that.

What would be the best, strongest and yet not harmfull product to use on that (and eventually the rest of the vinyl/plastic inside).

Thanks!
