common solution to NOx emissions .... 200

It might be. We're in Arizona and we have emissions testing. It's due in April. The car is from 84. It looks like previous owners tried to go around things the cheap way instead of truly fixing. It might have needed a new O2 sensor. Perhaps it was too expensive for them from the dealer (one of those 3-wire ones) and they gave up. I just replaced it with a cheap 1-wire universal. I just need to try the car for a while after each fix so I can tell if it helped or not. I have barely 2.5 miles between my house and work! I gas mileage is still poor, I can probably assume that I'll have trouble with emissions testing and try to find another source for the issue.
