Retrofitting heated mirrors 700

Hi All,

Retrofitted power heated mirrors to my 89 740. Was a little disappointed when the mirrors didn't heat up as well as the rear window until I found out that there's another switch needed. Found a combo mirror/rear window defroster switch on ebay, went to plug it in this weekend and found that the plug and switch are differently aligned. My plug is square with the four contacts aligned. The new switch calls for an offset plug where two sets of contacts are offset from the other set.

Wondering if someone has already gone through this exercise and if so what the best course of action would be. Find the correct plug and pigtail and splice it into the old wiring? Jumper the existing switch to control both? Find a discrete mirror defroster switch and use it instead?

Thanks in advance,
Jack
