97 volvo 960 wagon with warning light problem 900

This guy in my area has a 97 960 wagon wth about 94 k miles. He says the ac light as well as the service light and check engine light blink while you are driving the car. He brings it to the mechanics and they reset the computer box and it solves the problem for a while...my question is..isn't the service engine and air conditioner light separate computers..or all these reset at the same time..what could a problem like this be..thanks...Jeffrey
