Well i took my car to get smogged again with the new catalytic converter that i put on. It brought down the exhaust emissions a lot, and i passed the 15mph test, but I just barely failed the 25mph test in the NOx area. The guy said it might be the EGR, but he sounds like he has no idea what he is talking about. What exactely does the EGR do and how does it help the car? Could it be the problem?

Also when i took out my O2 sensor to put in the new cat, it look kinda black and smoky gray and i am sure its the original one on the car as most parts are. But i dont know if replacing that would help it pass or not. Any help is much appreciated, thanks!
