Crank Position Sensor 700 1988

Does this car even have one? How likely are they to go bad? My son has car 600 miles from home & won't start - died at idle when it did run but seemed to run at speed on the road. IAC looks O.K. - clean on the inside & Injector relay (radio supression relay) on order as has never been replaced in ~ 300K miles. Fuel pump relay, Fuel Pump Regulator, Ignition module, plugs & wires fairly new. Obviously, I'm trying to gather parts I might need prior to making this trip - any thoughts.

Thanks,
Bob
