Read this article on the pathetic nature of today's so called bumpers on current midsized autos and the damage inflicted in $$$. Interesting that government regulations on this were eased back in 1982...about the same time that the commando bumpers on our 240s were downgraded. All this just points out that if not enforced, mfgrs often won't go out of their way to do the right thing...even Volvo. Wondering just what the rated impact was for the pre-82 bumpers???
