Shortly after purchasing my 242 I replaced the speedometer on my 242 (I think it was to upgrade to a 120 MPH speedometer). I thought that it was a bit off. Being an intelligent high school student I got a friend with some POS chevy (isn't that an oxy-moron) that he paid way too much for yet that thought the world of to drive out to the local highway and see how our speeds related.
After merging on the highway I got in the left lane and my friend Chris was in the right. Immediately we saw the discrepancy. We kept pushing and comparing speeds until he said something (we had CB radios) (yes, we were/are rednecks) to the effect of "um Andrew, this is all I got!" To which I replied, "Well lets see why the car has Z rated tires" At 120 mph I punched the gas and the car still had go. We think I was up in the 140 range before I chickened out and got off the highway.
So how fast have I gone in a Volvo? Fast enough that I could have gotten a, "Go to jail, go directly to jail. Do not pass go. Do not collect 200 dollars!"
I still have that 242. I rebuilt the motor for it and built a mega squirt ECU except haven't had the ___(Insert excuse)___ to put it back together. Maybe after I finish the Audi, the Porsche and my 245... then maybe I can take it back out and see what she does now...
