Check engine light turns on during highway crusing 200

The car is 91 240 SE station wagon. The "Check Engine" light would turn on at high speed travel on the highway. It stays on until I get home. The next day morning, the light is gone and would stay off if I don't go on the highway. I thought the error code should stay until reset.

Another observation is that the "check engine" light is off when I turn the ignition key to on. I think it should be on as all other warning lights such as oil pressure.
