B20 head gasket change

I found it in the Green Book. Volvo made a tool, SVO 2435, to align the gasket and head. It is threaded on one end and has a slot for a large screwdriver on the other end.

You need two of the guide pins. One goes in the right front bolt hole, the other goes into the left rear bolt hole. Once you have the other bolts installed "lightly", remove the guide pins and install the bolts. Torque in the normal sequence.

You will need two bolts that fit the threads in the block. They also need to be longer than the head is high above the block. Softer is better because you must cut the hex caps off to use them as guide pins. I hope that helps.
