Fuel Tank Internal Restoration 200 1986

I need some advice regarding repainting or coating the inside of my 1986 240DL fuel tank. The tank doesn't leak and looks solid, but there is some crud in the bottom of the tank. It appears to be mostly internal rust particles. After 21 years I thought it may be time to clean out the tank and repaint the inside. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
