AW Trans Symptom 200 1985

AW70 trans with quirk. Cold start, reverse out of parking space, shift forward, no drive for a few seconds then slips into drive. Drive a few blocks, stop, no drive and slips in as before. After about a mile all is normal with engagement.

Fluid level at spec, cold and hot. A partial fluid change with replacement of downshift cable preceeded this by about a week. I believe I have the adjustment correct and will check it Sunday as well as the linkage adjustment.

Just need a few more ideas when I service the vehicle Sunday.
