can't get oil filter threaded tube off, need some help, thanks 200 1986

all,
i'm installing a t-stat sandwich plate and an oil cooler, but i can't get the original threaded filter pipe off. i tried using 2, 3/4 x 16 nuts but they're not locking.

i want to install the threaded filter pipe that comes with the oil t-stat sandwich plate. as yall know, the original one is too short for the t-stat sand. plate.

i thought about wrapping something around the threads and using channel locks, but i'm not comfortable doing that.

i need some help with some ideas.

thanks as always,
