Water pump question 200

82 245 gl. First the problem.... Water pump leaking at the gasket, not that big of a deal I keep a close eye on the coolant. But I think it is causing a chicka chika chicka noise because it is heading towards the pully and sitting in there. It is really bad on certain occasions(usually when its rainy and wet outside) but it goes away after about a mile. Today I sprayed some wd-40 in there and it seemed to quiet her down a bit. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I am going to replace the pump luckely it is a lifetime pump but the crap thing is that it only has about 15000 miles on it but at least I can exchange it. I am pretty sure the noise is coming from there but if anyone has any info that would be great.
