Crochet Needle to the Rescue! 200 1990

I posted "White Wire Woes" a few weeks ago, because the infamous white wire had broken/worn through immediately where it exits the shifter box into the transmission tunnel -- too short to splice with new wire to the OD solenoid. The only solution, though many here said it was impossible, was to pull the old broken wire up through the grommet, splice inside the shifter box and thread the new white wire through the grommet and down into the nether regions where it could be hooked up to the solenoid once more. The solution was to treat it like needle and thread - I went to a craft supply store and looked for the biggest sewing needles I could find. The one I used was actually a crochet needle I think. I threaded the white wire through the eye of the needle and pushed the needle through the grommet. Moving to the underside of the car, I used a pair of those reeeeaaally long needle-nosed pliers with the bent end (that's the technical name) to reach up between the tailshaft and the body/tran tunnel to grab the needle from the other side and pull it and the white wire through the grommet. I'm happy to report that the shifter switch, solenoid and OD relay all now work in unison as they should, and the white wire is also protected with some plastic conduit in hopes of preventing another break. Now after I replace the fuel pump, the in-tank pump and mount the hitch receiver, I can get it off the jack stands and actually drive the damn thing. Bobo is growing hopeful that he'll return to regular use some day.
