1997 965 tail light dilemma... S90-V90 1997

The lower lens of the left tail light on my 1997 965 is broken, now covered with that cheap-looking red colored tape. The other lenses are good.

The light is the new stype, red..clear..clear..red, found on the 1995 and newer 965/V90 cars. The light also differs from earlier 965/945/745 models in that the bottom lens is not indented on the side. There is an indentation in the rear fender just above the bumper, but that is filled with a trim strip, so the bottom lens is straight to match.

I have bought on eBay a Volvo replacement, but the clear turn signal lens totally missing.

Dilemma:

Route #1 is to remove the rare clear turn signal lens from the light on the car and install it on the eBay light.

Route #2 is to remove the remains of the broken bottom lens from the light on the car, remove that lens from the eBay light, and install in on the on-car light.

Problem with either route is that a rare lens must be removed intact. What would be the best way to do that? (Resealing it onto the other light is no big deal.)

I have thought that maybe a chemical would release the seal, such as acetone (nail polish remover), but I fear that it might damage the lens plastic, too.

Any ideas you have that might help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Bob

PS: Lampsandlenses.com has an exact match aftermarket light. Not from Estonia, but maybe Scantech. Any experience with that one?
