d-jet fun 140-160

wow ! did this pump work ok ? have you put many miles on it ? m.s.d. stuff is good, so no problem there, what do they call it ? I will go out and buy the thing today ! now I see how the " pressure" thing works. very cool. well, this could seriously help the D-Jet community, and I.P.D. wanted me to give them a heads up If I found any thing out, as they can no longer get the Bosch pump. I have found D-Jet to be very reliable and really fairly simple to understand, but it does take that leap of faith to depend on a system that you can't necessarily fix on the side of the road. I have minimized my risks by replacing most of the components, and restoring all the gunky old electrical connections. and I love the cool looking intake manifold ! in a moment of inspiration, I put a K&N air filter on it, which was amazingly loud. It seems like the intake is quite the acoustic amplifier, so all it's various hissing and clanking noises become a little alarming ! I put the stock filter back on. D-Jet gets sort of skimmed over in the fuel- injection world, as it is truly gen-1 , and the fact that it relies on intake vacuum to to do it's thinking means all hoses, valves, etc, have to be in good condition. which they should be anyway, so no big deal. even with all the miles on my engine, this system runs as well as any real-world carburetted engine Iv'e ever owned, and the guys who are in to them seem to be able to tweak them pretty well ! check out the volvo-supersquirt project.
