82 245 GL timing belt change. 200 1982

I am about to change my timing belt and tensioner, but there is one problem I have no idea what I am doing. I have a chilton manual that explains it a little bit but I am all freaked out that I am going to mess this up and destroy my motor. Can someone please help me get through this before I have a corinary from worrying about it. The car is an 82 245 GL gas motor no turbo B21F. Thanks for any help you can give me guys.

PS if the thing breaks before I change it will it destroy the head and motor?
