1993 Wagon Overdrive question 200 1993

So my wife is back from Philly Volvo-less and I have found a nice 93 wagon which I'm negotiating on. 156,000 miles, lots of reciepts since new. I have a question about the O/D in these guys. When the dash light comes on should i feel a noticeable shift into a higher gear or is that just at freeway speeds? I've only taken it on a very short test drive so far but noticed no difference in shifting at 40 MPH or less. thanks again for all your help/advice while my wife was in Philly. PS that e-bayer has re-posted the same Volvo wagon again! The wife is ready to ask some scathing questions about wether he has fixed any of the things wrong with it
