My Indie uses Saab coolant in Volvo cars 900

Just out of curiosity I asked my indie (who specialises in Volvo & Saab) what coolant he uses as it looks more thick than stock volvo coolant. To my surprise he said that they use Saab coolant, which is the same, he says, except for the color(saab coolant has a bluish tinge and volvo is green). He said that it could be mixed however without any problems. One gallon of the Saab stuff(only antifreeze) is $12 which seems cheap compared to what my local dealer charges($26) for volvo coolant.
