164 automatic options 140-160

I could buy a 164 this guy has in his lot here, as far as he says the previous owner had the engine rebuilt, ran it in a ditch and blew the automatic transmission out trying to get it out. It hasn't been touched since. Here my question, i can get it cheap, parts car cheap, but i guess most of the borg warner automatics are crap and id be better off tossing in an m410, which is what a lot of the 122 owners do with thier automatics, but i wasw wondering if it was a more intricate job on the 164, or if a new tranny that could last 20-30,000 miles could be found, or if a rebuild of the tranny would far exceed the worth of the car (which i think it would). Any ideas or info would be appreciated. I am a little more used to the rudimentary 122's, but got some skills, thanx.
