As I removed my K&N filter from my air box to clean, I realized that there was a large crack/hole on it's back side. I have noticed some loss in power recently and would like to know if this could be the culprit?

Also, I had read that removing the foam or doing modifications to the airbox can improve performance? Is this correct, and what modifications can be made?
